Helicopter training questions
What does it take to earn a private helicopter certificate?
An FAA medical and student pilot certificate, and a minimum of 40 hours of flight time including 20 hours of dual instruction and 10 hours of solo flight.
Why start in the Robinson R22?
The R22 has one of the lowest operating costs of any certified helicopter, which makes it an economical way to reach your private certificate.
When do I move to the R44?
The R44 Raven I and Raven II take you through instrument, commercial, CFI and CFII training, and match the aircraft many tour and utility employers fly.
Can I build a career as a helicopter pilot?
Most new commercial helicopter pilots build time as flight instructors before moving to tour, utility or EMS work. The CFI and CFII ratings are part of our program.
