To become a licensed pilot you will need

Airplane training questions
What does it take to earn a private pilot certificate?
An FAA medical and student pilot certificate, and a minimum of 40 hours of flight time including 20 hours of dual instruction and 10 hours of solo flight. Most students need more than the minimum, and consistent scheduling is the biggest factor in how long it takes.
Which aircraft will I train in?
Cessna 172s for primary training, with glass-display options, and the Cessna 182 for high-performance and technically advanced aircraft (TAA) training.
What is a TAA endorsement and why does it matter?
A technically advanced aircraft has a glass primary flight display, a moving-map GPS and an autopilot. Training in one lets commercial applicants meet the complex-aircraft requirement without renting a retractable-gear airplane.
What comes after the private certificate?
Instrument rating, commercial pilot, and CFI and CFII, plus a high-performance endorsement. Accelerated packages are available; call for details.
How do I pay for training?
